Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been sentenced to 6 months in jail in a case related to contempt of court. This information has come to light in a local media report. According to the report of The Dhaka Tribune, this decision has been given by a three-member bench of the International Crimes Tribunal-1 headed by Justice Mohammad Ghulam Murtuza Mozumdar.
Along with Sheikh Hasina, the tribunal has also sentenced Shakeel Akand Bulbul of Govindganj in Gaibandha to two months in jail under the same contempt decision. The contempt case against Sheikh Hasina was related to the leaked phone call she allegedly made with Shakeel Akand Bulbul in October last year. In that audio, a voice identified as Hasina was reportedly heard saying, "227 cases have been registered against me, so I have got the licence to kill 227 people."
