 International Mother Language Day 2023: Today is International Mother Language Day.  Around the world, language is a tool that connects people to each other and showcases their culture.  A country can have multiple mother tongues.  India alone has 122 languages ​​with more than 10,000 speakers.  There are 29 languages ​​spoken by 1 million people.  Languages ​​spoken include Hindi, English, Bengali, Punjabi, Arabic, Japanese, Russian, Portuguese, Mandarin and Spanish.  International Mother Language Day is celebrated on 21 February every year to promote linguistic and cultural diversity in the world and to raise awareness about many mother tongues.
 In 1999, UNESCO declared 21 February as the International Mother Language Day.  The first time the day was celebrated was by Bangladesh.  Later, from the year 2000, the day was celebrated worldwide.
