GSB Ganesh Mandal of Wadala in Mumbai has insured Rs 360.40 crore from an insurance company. Raghavendra Bhat, vice chairman of the mandal, said the idol of Mahaganapati was decorated with more than 66 kg of gold jewelery and 336 kg of silver and other valuable materials. Therefore, the Mandal has insured Rs 360.40 crore for the safety of Ganesh devotees ranging from jewellery. The sum insured includes gold, silver and other jewelery worth Rs 38.47 crore. Besides, insurance of Rs 321 crore is covered for the pandals, devotees, volunteers, priests, cooks, stall staff, security guards etc.
