A bill formally recognizing Amaravati as the sole and permanent capital of Andhra Pradesh was introduced in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, a significant legislative move in line with a key demand of the ruling NDA ally Telugu Desam Party (TDP).
The proposed law is seen as a major step towards fulfilling a long-standing objective of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, and also aims to bring clarity to the status of the state capital.
