China and South Korea to host the 4th UN Ocean Conference in 2028

China and South Korea (Republic of Korea) will co-host the fourth edition of the UN Ocean Conference to be held in 2028. This was announced at the conclusion of the 3rd UN Ocean Conference in Nice, France on 13 June 2025. 

At the 3rd UN Ocean Conference, more than 170 countries adopted a declaration calling for urgent steps to conserve and sustainable use of the ocean. More than 55 world leaders, scientists, policy makers and industry representatives attended the 3rd UN Conference on Ocean Development to discuss collective actions for the conservation and sustainable use of the ocean.
