Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced an award for the 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who scored the fastest century by an Indian in the Indian Premier League (IPL) yesterday, April 29, against the Rajasthan Royals. The century was the second quickest overall, and Suryavanshi also became the youngest centurion in the entirety of the T20 format.

Suryavanshi hails from Samastipur in Bihar and began his cricketing journey there. He also used to practice in Patna. He has already represented Bihar in age-group tournaments and played for the Indian U19 team. After impressing at that level, RR bought him in this year’s auction for ₹1.1 crore when he was just 13 years old.
