A unique medicinal crop grown in the scorching sands and arid climate of Marwar has now established its unique identity on the world map. The Central Government has officially granted the Geographical Indication (GI) tag to Nagaur district's renowned medicinal crop, 'Nagauri Ashwagandha.' This achievement is considered a matter of pride not only for the farmers of Nagaur district but for the entire Rajasthan and the field of medicinal farming.
With the GI tag, the quality, identity, and distinctiveness of Nagauri Ashwagandha have now received international legal protection. This means that only Ashwagandha grown in designated areas of Nagaur district will be known as 'Nagauri Ashwagandha.' This will stop fake or low quality Ashwagandha and farmers will be able to get fair price for their produce.
