Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu launched the "Green to Gold" initiative to promote industrial hemp. The goal is to make the state self-sufficient by 2027 and develop hemp as an industrial and medicinal resource. Hemp is grown in Kullu, Mandi, and Chamba and is useful in medicines, textiles, paper, biofuels, cosmetics, and construction. It requires 50% less water than traditional crops and can grow in poor soils, benefiting farmers.
