Alpine SG Pipers defeated two-time defending champions Triveni Continental Kings to win the title in the third season final of the Global Chess League. A joint initiative of Tech Mahindra and FIDE, the final match of the league lived up to expectations.
The Pipers performed brilliantly in the final, winning the first rapid match with the black pieces 4–2, followed by a 4.5–1.5 victory with the white pieces. With this victory, Alpine SG Pipers became the champions of the Global Chess League for the first time.
