Lieutenant Commander Divya Sharma, a Dornier pilot of an elite naval air squadron in the Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC), has become the "first woman" to become a qualified flight instructor of the Indian Navy. In a post on 'X' on Wednesday, ANC shared some pictures. It said in the post that Lieutenant Commander Divya Sharma, a Dornier pilot of 'INAS 318' on 'INS Utkrosh', created history as the first woman qualified flight instructor of the Indian Navy.

The post said, "Painting skies and inspiring generations." INS Utkrosh is a naval air station in Port Blair in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The squadron started its journey with the induction of the Islander aircraft, which was replaced by the Dornier aircraft in 1999. The Dornier aircraft is capable of conducting long-range maritime surveillance using state-of-the-art maritime patrol radar.
