This day is dedicated to the laborers and working class of the world. May 1 is a national holiday in many countries of the world. In India too, many state governments declare holidays. This day is a day to salute the achievements of laborers and working class and their invaluable contribution in nation building. The main purpose of celebrating this day is to honor the achievements of laborers and remember the contribution made by them. This day is also to strengthen mutual unity by organizing laborers and to make them aware of their rights. This is the reason why many labor organizations hold rallies, conferences, meetings and many types of programs on this day.
