The Dual Degree program has been passed in the ongoing Academic Council meeting of Delhi University.  However, some members objected to the Twinning degree program and said that there is nothing clear in it.  This will be put forth clearly in the next meeting.  On November 30, the Academic Council of Delhi University approved a proposal to implement the Dual Degree programme, amid disagreement from teachers' representatives.
The Dual Degree program allows students to pursue two academic degrees simultaneously through regular and open learning.  Such students will be given special relaxation to the extent of maximum 10 marks for one remaining paper in addition to any grace marks already applicable.
Students who could not appear for the examination due to COVID-19 preventing them from completing their degree will also be given a special opportunity to complete the course.  For students who have not studied Hindi till class 8, Hindi EL is offered in Semester 1 and 2 under the Hindi Department.  Qualification enhancement courses were also approved.
Under the Department of Economics, three DSE courses namely Economic Thought of Dr. BR Ambedkar are included.  Economy, State and Society (in Semester I3 and 5 as well as Production Relations and Globalization in Semester 4 and 6). Approval has been given to start from the academic session 2022-2023 on the basis of UGCF-2022.
Assistant Professor Maya John said that the Academic Council will be called again on the agenda item ‘Strategic Planning 2022-47’.  Its members did not want a hasty decision on the long-term plan for a university like DU.  Academic Council members also protested against changes in the promotion rules of university department teachers and loopholes in admission through CUET, among other proposals.
