The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved the continuation of the government's flagship Atal Pension Yojana (APY) till the financial year 2030-31. It also approved the extension of financial support for promotional, developmental activities and gap funding. According to an official release issued after the Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, activities like awareness and capacity building to increase reach among unorganized sector workers will continue to receive government support. The Atal Pension Yojana was launched on May 9, 2015, with the aim of providing income security to unorganized sector workers in their old age.
