The Assam government has told the Supreme Court that the state government is carrying out the development work of Maa Kamakhya Temple on a large scale under the Pradhan Mantri Divine Yojana. It also said that the Doloi (Chief Priest) Samaj is running the temple management affairs satisfactorily in coordination with the local administration and the existing arrangements can be continued. After seeing the affidavit of the state government, the court has given permission to continue the existing system of puja management in Maa Kamakhya temple.
While settling the matter, the Supreme Court has said that the assurance given by the state government to continue the development activities in Maa Kamakhya Temple on a large scale under the PM Divine Scheme, should be followed in its true sense. These orders were given by the bench of Justices Abhay S Oka and Pankaj Mittal on November 10. In this case, two affidavits were filed in the Supreme Court by the Assam government, which have been recorded in the court order.
The Supreme Court said that the assurance given by the state government to continue the development activities of Maa Kamakhya Temple on a large scale under the PM Divine Scheme should be followed in its true sense. This matter was related to the management of Kamakhya temple among other things. In which the Gauhati High Court had earlier given an order that the amount donated by the devotees for the development work of the temple should be deposited in a separate account. The same amount of Rs 11 lakh was deposited in a separate account.
