Amidst the ongoing war with Hamas, Israel has made a special appeal to Indians.  The Israeli Embassy in India has appealed to all Indians on Diwali to light a lamp for the 240 civilians held hostage by Hamas.  Diyas were lit at the Israeli Embassy on Diwali and wishes were expressed for the early return of the hostages.
The Israeli Embassy said that just as Diwali is celebrated when Shri Ram returns home, similarly a lamp should be lit for those who did not return to their homes after the Hamas attacks.  This time, 240 missing people should also be included in the Diwali prayers.
In fact, on October 7, Hamas had attacked Israel, one of the most powerful countries in the world.  More than 1400 civilians were killed in this attack.  Apart from this, Hamas had taken more than 240 people hostage from Israel.  These civilians were brought into tunnels built in the Gaza Strip by Hamas fighters.
In response to this attack, Israel is continuously bombing Hamas positions in Gaza.  More than 10 thousand people have been killed in these attacks.  At the same time, more than 20 thousand people have been injured.  Apart from the Israeli Air Force, the Ground Force is also conducting ground operations in the Gaza Strip.  Many Hamas commanders have also been killed in this war.  While 35 Israeli soldiers have also been killed in the ground operation.
