Saudi Arabia's de facto ruler Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman told Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas that he was working to prevent the conflict from escalating after Hamas's unexpected attack on Israel.  According to AFP news agency, Saudi state media gave this information early on Tuesday.
Prince Mohammed also told Abbas that Saudi Arabia would "stand with the Palestinian people in achieving their rights and achieving a just and lasting peace," the official Saudi Press Agency reported.
However, Prince Mohammed told Fox News last month that the Palestinian issue is 'very important' to Saudi Arabia.  He said, 'We need to solve this.  We need to make life easier for Palestinians.'
