Finance Ministry grants 'Maharatna' status to Oil India Limited

Finance Ministry has decided to upgrade Oil India to Maharatna category.  With the government's decision, the country now has a total of 13 Maharatna companies.  According to the information available on the website of the Department of Public Enterprises, BHEL, BPCL, Coal India, GAIL India, Hindustan Petroleum (HPCL), Indian Oil, NTPC, ONGC, Power Finance Corporation, PowerGrid Corporation, Rural Electrification Corporation and SAIL  India Ltd. is already included in this list.  Now Oil India has also entered.  The stock fell 0.2 per cent to Rs 270.
 According to information available on the website of the Department of Public Enterprises.  There are currently 12 Maharatna companies in the country.  The number rose to 13 with the addition of Oil India.  So far it was included in the list of Navratna companies.  There are a total of 13 Navratna Companies (Navratna CPSE) in the country.  In addition, Miniratna I CPSE category includes a total of 62 companies.  A total of 11 names have been included in the Miniratna II CPSE list.
  Maharatna, Navratna status is for CPSE or Central Public Sector Enterprise Companies.  Private sector companies cannot be included.  Only Navratna companies get the status of Maharatna companies on upgradation.  The average turnover for the last three years should be more than Rs 25,000 crore.  The average profit must be Rs 2500 crore.  Its global presence is essential.
