Though the makers of Adipurush are claiming a worldwide collection of Rs 140 crore on the first day, the opposition to the film is growing.  The way the film portrays the Ramayana and the characters of Lord Rama, Hanuman and Lankesh Ravana is increasingly angry.  After seeing the reviews of the film and the reactions of the general audience on the film in social media, many people have canceled their advance booked tickets.  They are sharing the canceled tickets in social media.  Moreover, the hashtags Adipurusha, Boycott Adipurusha and Disaster Adipurusha are trending in social media.  The film's makers, director and writer have been criticized by the audience.
After getting the tickets cancelled, a Twitter user wrote, “I have canceled my tickets for Adipurush just because I don’t want to teach my daughter the wrong Ramayana.  Another wrote, I have canceled the ticket for Adhipurush because it is not Ramayana.  Meanwhile, Manoj Muntashir, the film's dialogue writer, is arguing in favor of these dialogues, saying on TV channels that the story of Ramayana is told in similar language and fashion by elders, grandparents and great saints of the country .  He is not the first person to insert such dialogues into the story of Ramayana."
