The train accident in Odisha has shocked the entire country. The accident has so far confirmed 288 deaths. The Opposition has been attacking the BJP government at the Center over the accident. Senior Maharashtra Congress leader Balasaheb Thorat has even demanded the resignation of Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav over the Odisha train accident.
At the press conference, Balasaheb Thorat said the central government was not sensitive and demanded to know what happened to the much-hyped 'shield' anti-collision mechanism to prevent such incidents. Thorat demanded, "Even when the prime minister inaugurated new trains, the railway minister was never seen. He should resign after this tragic accident."
The death toll in the horrific three-train collision in Odisha's Balasore has risen to 288. About 900 people were injured in the accident. This is the country's deadliest train accident in more than 20 years. Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrives in Balasore to visit the train accident site. He will meet the injured in hospitals in Cuttack.
